Square Bears

This project has been on my to do list for a loooong time.  (Since last year!  GASP!!!)  It was a fun little project but a little tedious.  I made 3 at a time though so maybe that is why.  I got the project from the book Sew Darn Cute, by Jenny Ryan.  The directions were so-so.  I think this is the first project I've done out of that book and I don't know that I would recommend it for someone's first sewing book, but once you have the gist of how things go together it has some fun ideas in it.  I made a couple of adjustments to make the project a little more baby/toddler friendly as well.

I'm here!

I promise I haven't disappeared, and I actually have gotten a few projects done.  I've just been lazy about taking pictures of them.  I hope to accomplish some of that tomorrow.  :)

Pudding Paint

My son has an aversion to finger painting.  He doesn't like to get his hands messy.  So, this made me think of an old Jon and Kate Plus 8 episode I saw while I was pregnant with him in which they painted with vanilla and chocolate pudding.  That seemed a little boring to me, so I decided to take vanilla pudding, divide it into four bowls and add food coloring to each one.  He still wouldn't use his fingers, but an unused paint brush sufficed as both brush and spoon.  :)  Such an easy crowd pleaser for a toddler.

All it takes is one snack pack of vanilla pudding.  :)

On a side note:  Food coloring can stain things so he is only in a diaper here.  I am going to experiment with Kool-Aid powder to see if I can get a similar effect minus staining.

Recipe: Green Slime Smoothie

This recipe is great for a picky eater.  My son really enjoyed his smoothie and love that I got to sneak some veggies in there.  It's plenty sweet from the Yogurt and fruit so no need to add sugar.

This recipe comes from Healthy Recipes for Kids.
