A little each day...

I'm sure you can all relate to the feeling of, "So much to do, so little time."  That is how every. single. day. feels in my house right now.  Leslie, a pal of mine, started "20 Minutes a Day".  While I may only get 18 minutes, or some days I might go a bit longer, I love the dedication to this time.  Imagine what you'll save on therapy bills.  ;)  Geez...between "Year of the Stash" and "20 Minutes a Day" we're saving you a TON of money.  lol

I'll give you more details on this quilt when it's finished.
So, what have I been doing with my time?  We'll start with the "big" project first.  I have been holding onto this fabric for my son for at least 2 years now fully intending to make him a quilt for his big boy bed.  Well, that sneaky kid decided to ditch the crib right about the time we had to put our Texas home up for sale.  Fast forward a bit...I am finally making progress on this bad boy.  I'm using the Cluck Cluck Sew pattern "Chain Reaction."  I'm really enjoying making progress on a quilt that's been on my to do list for a loooong time.

The knitting bug also hit hard this winter.  As I mentioned I knitted many a Christmas gift this year, and while my parents were here I began this Millwater Cowl.  It was my first time cabling and I'm pretty impressed with how I did.  If you want to learn how to cable, this is a GREAT EASY pattern for it.  I also learned a new cast-on method.  (Yarn is Madelinetosh DK in Silver.)  This was the perfect project to work on while watching the new Downton Abbey season. :)

I also whipped up a new little pillowcase for my daughter, and have to get busy on some bee blocks.  Then it's back to my son's bed quilt and some bags for QuiltCon.  I'm happy to report that the only fabric I have purchased this month is a bit more Kona Ash for my son's bed quilt.  I was 8 inches shy of what I needed.  In between projects I'm busy being a mommy, attempting (and failing miserably) to keep my house tidy, and working on things for the OKC Modern Quilt Guild.  It's a bit of a whirlwind, but luckily I have Harriet cheering me on:

Harriet is my sewing "studio" mascot from Adrian of Fried Okra.

  2. Hi Amanda, Harriet's a doll! And I love your son's quilt. I am hoarding some fabrics that intended to be quilts for my son, too. I need to get on those soon, or he'll be all grown up and not so much into cars, etc. ;) Sounds like you're keeping blissfully busy with motherhood and quilting.
