Gotta Love 'Em!

Today is "I Love My Local Quilt Shop Day."  And I truly do.  Sure, the internet is fun to peruse and order from and the wide selection is hard to beat.  But, part of what I love about this wonderful quilting community are the relationships one forms.

Oklahoma Quiltworks was the first place I went to when we moved (almost two years ago!  My goodness time flies.) that I felt like I belonged.  They immediately welcomed me into their fold.  They understood the "modern quilting" consumer.  I was in heaven.  Since that first visit I have gone on to form friendships with some of the people who work there, I have taken a class, joined a hand stitching group, found my guild, and frankly when I just feel like I'm going to burst because I haven't talked to a grown up in a day or two...they're there for me.  And on top of all of that...they even welcome my kids!  Not every store is happy to have a 2 and 3 year old walking through the establishment.

So, do I love my local quilt shop?  Whole heartedly.  The ladies at Quiltworks are part of my Oklahoma family.  So, any day that celebrates them is totally worth it in my book.

I stopped by today and left with my totally awesome "Make and Take" pincushion in "Comma", and I WON (WOOOOOO!!!) this Jelly Roll of Denyse Schmidt's "Chicopee".

  1. Yay for winning! My LQS is called Quiltworks too! How funny. I jumped the gun and visited them yesterday. It was my only kid free moment! :)

  2. Ooh, lucky you. It's so nice when you find such a great place. As they say in the "Cheers" song--"Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came."
