The Year of the Stash!

I am a bit trepidacious and yet excited for 2013.  I have deemed this the year of the stash.  No, not the mustache fad that I don't understand at all, but actually working on sewing projects from my stash.  I hope to be VERY limited in my spending this year, focusing on fabrics I actually need for projects I'm working on rather than splurging on things I don't need or know what to do with.  :)  I invite you to join me in this journey!  It may be rough going and I'll need all the support I can get!  (I kid...sorta.)

I have several projects in mind already, one of which was giving the blog a 2013 facelift.  I'm liking it I think.  I feel like the sidebar images are missing something.  Maybe it will strike me later.  Until then I'm enjoying the new colors.  :)

I also wanted to share a bit of a year in review for 2012.  I had no idea I accomplished so much and even more that I didn't get a chance to share yet.  (I didn't get around to any photo editing over the break.)  So here are "most" of my 2012 finishes, and I'll have a few more to share with you once I get settled after all of the fun company we've had.

  1. Year of the Stash... I like it. For me it is year of the "sew what you can, when you can, and never look back," so we'll see where that gets me in terms of stash reduction. But if you ARE going to sew things from your stash, clearly you need to post pictures OF said stash so that we can drool over - er, I mean, "offer intelligent commentary on how to optimize," yeah, that's it - all your fabric. Also, it might be fun to take progressive pictures and see it dwindle. Then you will have photographic proof when it's time to make 2014 the year of "stash replenishment."

  2. I LOVE your new blog design! It's so much fun! And I think your 2013 goal is awesome. I'm still working on building a stash, but my idea is to only but what I need for specific projects. (And not make up projects just so I can buy more fabric, haha!) Good luck!

  3. Love your new blog design! Year of the stash, huh? I will try to bust my stash this year too. Although I don't know if I can commit to buying NOTHING, but I think I can commit to a "two out one in" policy.

    1. Oh...I will buy a few things. But, it will be very planned out. I'm not going to impulse buy. There are certain lines coming out that I will focus on for my "extra" purchases. For example certain bits from the new DS line and the new Liberty Lifestyle line. :)

I invested in a bolt of white and about a 2/3s bolt of gray. This will keep me from walking into QW and picking up a few FQs that I didn't need.

  4. I like the "Year of the Stash" idea, and I want to add your "button" onto my blog, okay? This has been my plan for the year also, so here's hoping we both have great success in 2013 ~

  5. Great idea! I had been planning something similar and would like to add your button to my blog as well to remind me of this year's goal... and to encourage others to shop their stash as well!

Not sure what your blog looked like prior to this configuration but I like this one... bright and cheerful and friendly!

    :)

  6. I envy your will power! I am wanting to put huge dents in my stash this year, for sure... But I'm not sure I can commit to no random purchases. I've definitely got enough fabric to last a while, though. Like a lifetime! I think my goal for 2013 will be to crank out some quilts, any quilts, and more and more quilts... You get the idea!

  7. Also, that button was totally what I had in mind for our stitch that stash quilt bee. It's perfect!

  9. i like your idea Amanda. I think every year we quilters say we are only going to use stash, but somewhere around March I succumb to the internet quilt shops and weaken. I pinned your "Year of the Stash" and going to put it on my home page as a reminder.
